Bill Charlap: piano
Jake Hanna: drums
Dick Hyman: piano

The CD contains some amazing music recorded by Braff, Charlap and Hanna in the aftermath of the horror of 9/11 as well as three performances recorded at the 2001 March of Jazz by Braff, Charlap, Hyman, Pizzarelli and Hanna - a marvelously cohesive ensemble with on precedent in recorded jazz. As summed up in the excellent notes by Michael Steinman (jazz writer and Professor of English at Nassau Community College in New York): "Ruby saw himself as a "saloon entertainer", no Shakesperaian hero, but he cose to create beauty rather than bewail its absence, to play the music of romance as if love was all that mattered. Resolute to the end, he maintained an artist«s heroic posture even when he had to ration his breath, when he could no longer stand up to play. The gestures are wondrous, the music, wonderful."
